Chevrolet crate engine to power TA2/Trans Am

The national TA2 and Trans Am categories are set to switch to genuine Chevrolet Performance crate engines moving forward, helping to keep the popular categories as cost effective V8 pathways.
With over 100 TA2 and Trans Am race cars in both Australia and New Zealand, the controlled CT525 crate engine package will replace the LS3 based engine currently in use in Australasia and in the American series.
Whilst the lightweight CT525 small block V8 is from the GM LS engine family, the CT525 can produce up to 533 horsepower at 6,600 RPM, prioritising reliability without any performance compromise.

“There’s always a balance between cost, performance and reliability when it comes to race engines, now we can tick all three boxes with the Chevrolet Performance crate engine package” said a joint statement from HCC consortium (Paul Hadley, Mark Crutcher , Graham Cheney).
With Distributions Director Crutcher, adding that, “It was time to look to the future and we are excited to announce our plan to run with the Chevrolet Performance CT525 crate engine package in the series.”

Distributions co-director, Hadley, said that, “TA2 Racing in Australia will be part of a talented racers career path that doesn’t cost the earth. Watch out for the Chevrolet Performance logo on the bonnet of Jarrod Hughes’s TA2 Racing Camaro at Bathurst this coming weekend (17-20th April).”
Chevrolet Racing General Manager, Chris Payne, stated that the move to the controlled crate engine is an important step in a category that provides an excellent and relevant youth pathway into Supercars.
“It’s clear that with over 100 TA2 and Trans Am race cars in Australia and New Zealand, the popularity of the TA2 platform is undeniable,” Payne said.
“We are delighted to have been asked to provide the Chevy Performance crate engine package for the series.
“We want to make a competitive cost-effective series that fits between Toyota GR86 & Super2. We believe young kids with talent can learn to race in a TA2 which is a similar vehicle to a Supercar.”
