‘Epic’ Hidden Valley Motocross track revealed

In September a different kind of racing history will be made at Hidden Valley Raceway in the form of the final leg of the FIM World Motocross Championship.
The inaugural MXGP of Australia will be staged on September 19-21 at the home of the annual Supercars round in Northern Territory.
Anticipation for the first taste of world motocross action down under in 24 years is building after the “technically complex” track was revealed.
A permanent 1.6km track featuring 22 corners, 21 jumps and a 90-metre starting start criss-crosses the familiar Hidden Valley Raceway.

The track will be located to the left of the Turn 6 hairpin and start on the braking zone of Turn 9.
Designed by Protraxx, Australia’s leading motocross track builders’ experts, the track’s 70% sand and 30% clay blend will provide an ideal surface that rewards skill and precision.
Jeff Leisk, the first Australian to win a World Motocross Grand Prix back in 1989 feels it will be a good track for riders and spectators alike.
“The design Protraxx has delivered is epic. The world’s best riders want to be challenged – pushed to the absolute limit of control – to gain an advantage over their rivals. This track has all the elements to do just that,” he said
“What I also love about the design is that spectators will be able to see most of the track from almost every vantage point. And because it’s part of the Hidden Valley Motor Sports Complex, it has all the facilities needed to make the fan experience world-class. Kudos to the NT Government for bringing MXGP to Australia.”
