New Tasmania schedule revealed

Date posted: 2 April 2025
One of the biggest schedules for a Tasmania Supercars race has been revealed, plus the off-track activities at Townsville.
For the first time since 2018 and just the third time ever, Super2 will be coming to Symmons Plains.
With Touring Car Masters and V8 SuperUtes also on show, the 2025 Tasmania Super440 will see one of the best support cards seen at Symmons Plains.
It is a step up in calibre after Australian Formula Ford, Aussie Racing Cars and Tassie Tin Tops were the supports last year.
The new Sprint Cup format will see three Supercars races on show starting with back-to-back 120km races before Sunday’s 200km main event.
For the first time Super2 will have a shootout for pole between the fastest five cars in addition to the two 40 minute races.
Touring Car Masters will again put on a spectacle across four races with three points paying affairs, plus the Trophy Race.
Event Manager Matthew Gegg said this year’s event be a big one.
“The Snowy River Caravans Tasmania Super440 is shaping up to be one of the biggest and best yet, with an incredible lineup of racing categories and entertainment,” he said.
“Whether you’re a die-hard Supercars fan or just looking for a great day out, there’s something for everyone at Symmons Plains.
“With Mother’s Day on Sunday, it’s the perfect opportunity to bring the whole family along and enjoy a fantastic day at the track.”
In addition to the annual 500km street race at Townsville, there will be plenty of action away from Supercars.
Professional Bull Riders Australia will join the Townsville 500 in a new Australia v New Zealand Origin Series.
The Bull Ring will be set up behind the Supercars paddock area.
Also on show will be the Summernats Goes Troppo where a Skid Pad will ee more than 20 burnout and drift cars will be smoking it up.
“We are taking the NTI Townsville 500 to the next level in 2025, delivering a festival of entertainment that will appeal to motorsport fans, thrill-seekers, and families alike,” Supercars CEO Shane Howard said.
“Securing PBR Australia is a game-changer, bringing one of the world’s premier entertainment brands to Townsville.
“Alongside the return of Street Machine, MotorEx, and Summernats’ incredible off-track shows, this event will be a must-see on the Supercars calendar.”

'description' => 'The Supercars Championship, currently known as the Repco Supercars Championship, is the premier motorsport category in Australasia and one of Australia\'s biggest sports. It originated from the Australian Touring Car Championship (ATCC), which held its first race in 1960 at Gnoo-Blas in Orange, New South Wales. The ATCC evolved over the years, and in 1997, it was rebranded as the V8 Supercars Championship, eventually becoming the Supercars Championship we know today.
Some of the leading drivers in the history of the Supercars Championship include Peter Brock, who is often referred to as the "King of the Mountain" for his nine victories at the Bathurst 1000, a race that is considered one of the biggest in the series. Other notable drivers include Dick Johnson, Marcos Ambrose, Craig Lowndes, Shane van Gisbergen, Jamie Whincup, who holds the record for the most championship titles, and Mark Skaife, who has also been a dominant force in the series.
The Bathurst 1000, held at Mount Panorama Circuit in Bathurst, New South Wales, is arguably the most famous race in the Supercars calendar. Other significant races include the Sandown 500 and the Adelaide 500, which are known for their challenging circuits and thrilling competitions.
The Supercars Championship has grown to become a globally recognized series, known for its competitive racing and passionate fan base. It continues to be a major part of Australia\'s motorsport culture, attracting top drivers and teams from around the world.',
