Power tops IndyCar test

In addition to Supercars, IndyCar has also been testing ahead of its 2025 season and Australia’s Will Power has finished day 2 on top.
Team Penske Aussie veteran Power posted a 52.2549s time to be the benchmark at Sebring International Raceway.
He led a Team Penske 1-2 with the #12 Verizon entry followed by teammate Josef Newgarden, who was 0.0642s adrift.
Both were part of test session 3, held in cooler conditions, while Scott McLaughlin finished down in 24th and was in the opening group.
But less than eight-tenths of a second separated the entire 27-car field over two days of testing.
Power said post session the competitiveness creates a number of performance swings.
“It’s funny, after a couple days back in the car, you feel right at home, back to the same old stuff, and going through the same old changes and just confirming stuff,” Power said.
“I know it so well now, but it always changes. It’s never the same. So, you’ve got to be on your toes, super-tight field.”
The results for Team Penske today were a contrast from Monday, when Power was the quickest for the team in seventh at 52.8032, more than four-tenths of a second behind the day’s leader, Pato O’Ward of Arrow McLaren at 52.3470.
But after improving last night, Power has set a new benchmark, restricting O’Ward to third overall.
Another Kiwi in Marcus Armstrong, plus Colton Herta rounded out the top five.
Prema has joined the field in 2025 and ended the test with plenty encouragement after Callum Ilott ended up eighth overall.
Veteran Scott Dixon had a troubled test, experiencing mechanical issues and recording just two laps on Monday and finding the Turn 6 barriers on Tuesday to be restricted to 13th.
The 2025 IndyCar season begins at St Petersburg on March 2.
