Stage set for open Touring Car Masters battle

Touring Car Masters Race start Sydney Motorsport Park 2024

By Thomas Miles

The battle for victory will be wide open in the opening round of the 2025 Duggan Family Hotels Touring Car Masters season at Sydney this weekend.

With reigning champion Adam Garwood off to Trans Am, it will be an enthralling and unpredictable battle for victory at Sydney Motorsport Park where Touring Car Masters share the spotlight with Supercars.

A 17-car field has been confirmed for the opening round of a seven-round season with the first being one of six Supercars meetings.

Although there is no Garwood, the VB Commodore that drove him to victory will be on track in the hands of category rookie Jude Bargwanna with Carlton Zero and Duggan Family Hotels support.

Jude Bargwanna will drive the new look VB Commodore.

It will be interesting to see where he slots in amongst a competitive field that features many fan-favourite cars and drivers.

Having missed a handful of rounds last year, Steven Johnson will make a celebrated return to the category in the green-eyed Hancock Racing Mustang.

Joel Heinrich will be back in the yellow Whiteline Racing Camaro, as well as Scott Cameron.

The Pro Master Toranas of Ryan Hansford and Andrew Fisher are always fast and contending for wins, while the Marcus Zukanovic completes the Pro Master class in the Falcon.

Despite being in Pro Am, Jamie Tilley will be one to watch in his Mustang after scoring a popular breakthrough round win last start at SMP.

Another driver who enjoyed a tight and exciting Trophy Race triumph at Sydney was Danny Buzadzic, who is always buzzing in his Allan Grice tribute Torana.

Rounding out the field are three other Pro Am entries and five Pro Sport cars, ensuring there is plenty of variety from the popular category as always that celebrates the cars of the past.
