Spokes became a talking points again for the wrong reason across Saturday’s Supercars races in Taupo.
Brodie Kostecki and Chaz Mostert went at it for Race 9 victory door to door and the DJR driver ended up worse off.
Not only did Kostecki lose the battle on the track, he suffered significant wheel damage after spokes interlocked as they rubbed panels through Turns 4-5.
“Many drivers have said the wheels need to change for a long time,” he said.
Mostert reiterated Kostecki’s concerns, believing it needs to be changed soon.
“it is not ideal because it could have been a little bit more for Brodie and he would not be on the podium,” he said.
“When you rub panels a little bit, you just feel like bumper cars when someone pushes you, but when a wheel hits – my wheel kind of got snapped out of my hand at the same time and my toe went all out in the front as well.
“It’s not great how the spokes are interlocking.
