Heinrich Camaro holds off DFH Commodore in TCM Race 2

Joel Heinrich has added another win to his Touring Car Masters CV in the Chevrolet Camaro in Race 2 at the Sydney 500, whilst a Falcon XD came off second best with a tyre bundle in a shortened affair.

As in Race 1, the Bob Middleton built Camaro had the power down the SMP straights to hold off the chasing pack, with pole sitter Andrew Fisher not able to keep up in the Torana with a third place finish.
Bargwanna also kept up his debut weekend podium streak, hassling Heinrich through the one lap dash to keep second.
An unfortunate crash for the Falcon XD occurred with ten mounts to run on the clock, with Marcus Zukanovic going for an extended journey across the grass and traps, finding a tyre bundle that messed up the front of the XD, with the driver leaving the vehicle ok.
Here’s how Race 2 unfolded…
Once again it was the Torana of Fisher and the Bob Middleton Camaro driven by Heinrich on the front row for the rolling start, with Bargwanna next to the Tilley Mustang.
And just like in Race 1 the Camaro’s power on the straight saw Heinrich jump Fisher, as Bargwanna also put the VB Commodore over the Jesus Torana.
Down to the ten minute mark, the #95 Camaro had maintained a +1.6sec gap, and a big lock up through Turn 2 from Bargwanna saw that eked out to two seconds.
A small TCM train was following the leader, but as the race was looking settled, Zukanovic was involved in a high speed crash into the tyre bundles.
He climbed out of the car ok, but the front of the #71 Falcon XD was a mess up front after he couldn’t rotate the car into the final turn as it got some air over there old exit road for the drag strip.
With that clean up taking some time and the clock ticking down to zero, the grid was afforded a one-lap-dash.
Heinrich jumped early and tried to shake the Commodore’s draft, but Bargwanna stayed with him, and a small error at Turn 5 brought him even closer, with Fisher also in the mix.
Heinrich kept the lead however, and had the power in the RS to shake the VB and SLR500, whilst J.Tilley’s Mustang and there Cameron Chevrolet failed to make the line with a last lap tangle.
