Vidau returns to Carrera Cup in 2025

By Timothy Neal

Max Vidau will return to the Porsche Carrera Cup after a season in Super2, running his own MVA Racing team with the ultimate goal of just “having fun” and getting back to the basics of enjoying motorsport.

Last year proved a tough Supercars initiation in Vidau’s own words, despite finishing sixth in the title race and scooping up some podiums.

But with the money side of Super2 proving a difficult hurdle for any young Aussie, he returns to some machinery he knows pretty well, having been a memorable round winner at the AGP as well as a three-time race winner in a 22 race career.

“Last year was a tough season and we weren’t able to pull a deal together for Supercars this year,” Vidau explained.

“We have the Cup Car in the workshop so I thought ‘lets have a crack’ and get back to enjoying the sport and doing it for the reasons we all started doing it for.

“We’re not going there with a view of anything else but having a great time, racing the thing as hard as we can and mixing it up at the front of the field like we used to.

“It’s just me, Dad, and some young blokes – I think the average age of the team is about 23. We’ve got some great supporters on board and we are working on other partners for the remainder of the year.

“It’s going to be great fun and hopefully a really good way to kick off the season.”

Vidau has already been on track with his Cup Car, having tested at The Bend this week.

A full livery and sponsorship reveal to come closer to round one of the championship at Sydney Motorsport Park, alongside the Sydney 500 on February 21-23.
